Jeremy turns 25! What a fun night was had by all!  I was tryIng to think of something different to do as we celebrated my son-in-laws birthday. While out shopping, Sarah and I found “Rock Band” and we thought that It would be a great Idea for our party. Well, what more can I say!  Happy Birthday Jeremiah!!

Road trip…..12 inches of snow along the way.

19 Feb

Visiting Dallas Texas was quite an experience I would say… Traveling up with two friends, Annette and Christy to the CFNI Worship Conference was a great learning experience for me. Never having driven in falling snow before taught me a great lesson in trust.  Before leaving, my hubby told me that it would be fine as long as the temperature stayed above 32 degrees as the bridges would not ice over. Needless to say I kept looking at the temp gauge and saying , “It is only 34 degrees, we are fine!” Took a picture with my IPhone to prove it…. Ignorance is bliss at times!!!  I told the ladies that the drive was in their hands with me just doing what they told me to do.  Do we need to turn around (not a good idea as all the access roads were closed), go slower or faster? I was instructed that it would be a good idea to get behind the big truck in front of me, which was a beer truck,  follow in the ruts it made and then if I hit ice to not brake drastically but go with the slide and gain control by braking lightly – easier said than done as I watched a few cars and pick-ups slide into the ditches. After arriving safely in Dallas after 12 inches of snow and 6 hours of driving, this is what I came up with as I lay in bed thinking about the journey I had justtaken. I related the truck to God, (you never know what form God might be or look like..) this being the one to keep my eyes on and follow. Annette was like Jesus, instructing, directing and told me to keep going, ‘slow and steady’, ‘slow and steady’. Then there was Christy, like the Holy Spirit, cautioning me to slow down, speed up and kept me from doing any movement or action to harm us. I could have never made the trip without any of them and would not have wanted to as it would have definitely ended up in trouble as I really did not know how to handle the situation. Just like our lives, we really need God to be the One we follow, the strong anchor and leader in our lives.  Jesus to direct and encourage us and the Holy Spirit to caution us – This could really be a sermon for me as there was so much in this journey that taught we how God is so sovereign and mighty in our lives. Apart from all the excitement of driving in and around Dallas after 12 inches of snow, the conference was amazing! It is always a blessing to attend CFNI, be in the presence of the Lord and learn from such great worshipers and teachers. We  threw some snowballs, ate good food and arrived back in Austin alive and well in all aspects ~ God is good!

Moving along…

5 Feb

It is almost to late to wish you a happy new year but never the less, I trust that this year will be full of blessing and rejoicing for you. The days are going by fast and I am trying really hard to not miss all the blessings around about me, as time waits for no man! The new year has already brought some exciting events our way as we have celebrated together in our home.  Kristen embraced her 23rd birthday on February 3rd and is still celebrating as we plan an outing to Cirque Du Soleil “Alegria” together.  Sarah was accepted into Concordia University to do her BSN (nursing degree) and was granted a partial scholarship. We are very proud of her.  As far as moving into a new home, that has been put on hold as we just reached a point of no peace in the decision and decided to followed the counsel that we so often give, follow peace….. We were disappointed but just both believe that God has something different and better for us in the whole situation.  So we wait and see what the hand of God will do and see what He has planned with our house situation.

Festivities, Fun and Family

14 Dec

November was a great month with our family visiting Wichita, Ks. for a few days and then having a great Thanksgiving in our home with some friends. This has been a great December too with my sister, Ann and her husband, Rob arriving from South Africa for a 6 week visit!  The first thing we did after unpacking and having a good nights sleep, was off to the mall to have a family portrait taken.  It was very successful and lots of fun was had by all.  The weather has been rather chilly this month so watching over our plants and pipes has been exciting!  My sister and her hubby went to LA for a week and we did some much needed Christmas shopping.  This past Sunday we had our Christmas play at the church, which Kristen wrote and directed – it was amazing and ministered to us all.  Then that evening we went to watch the Riverdance at the Bass Concert Hall downtown.  It was such a great night of entertainment and we loved every minute of it.  So much is planned with my birthday and Rob’s this month, Christmas and then off to Port Arkansas for a week.  Things for our home are moving along, we just need a buyer for ours now, so say a prayer.  House decorated, brownies cooked, dinner eaten and wheel of fortune, what more could we ask for tonight as we sit around and chat away ~

China will never be the same!

25 Nov

My hubby’s trip to China! I know that they really enjoyed themselves! I visited China with my hubby a few years back and I have to say it is a life changing experience. He really wants me to go again so we shall see!

October was here and gone…

20 Nov

The birthday kiddos!October has come and gone with tons of stuff going on. We had two of our children, Daniel and Sarah both celebrate birthdays. Daniel’s was a little quieter than Sarah seeing that she was celebrating her 18th! Sarah also received her driver’s license and got the go-ahead to drive to school and back. She was beginning to wonder if her dad would be driving her to college and back, class to class. Talking about college, we went and visited Concordia and were very impressed by their campus and academic program. Now we are working on scholarships and admittance if Sarah decides to attend there.   We had the privilege of watching Christian Schnucker perform in his school play, “A Snake in the Grass” , which was very enjoyable 🙂  My hubby went to China (pictures) for 10 days with two other guys and they seemed to enjoy every minute of it. Not stretching that to the food as far as my hubby goes! We also purchased a new home over the last month so packing a few boxes and cleaning out some closets that really needed it, has been some of my extra chores. We plan on moving into our home in April or so of next year. The ladies at our church completed the first 6 weeks of our bible study, The Tabernacle by Beth Moore, which has been amazing and we have really expanded our insight and revelation. November is passing by rather quickly with the family travelling to Wichita for a few days and them my sister and her husband arrive the Friday after or 6 weeks. This is going to be a fun and busy time during this festive season.  Birthday Pictures!

October has come and gone……

Kristen & Jeremy.

With my husband being in Chengdu, China, ministering to the underground church along with Flint and Jack, it leaves me kind of in charge around here.  Not something I really love as it does require some responsibility that I am not always confident in doing.  BUT GOD….. people see me as a confident person but no… humblyI admit that is only by the grace of God can I do anything!  Our Wild West Fall Fest was a great success at the church and I thank God for the amazing gifts the Lord has placed in my daughter, Kristen and her hubby, Jeremy, to do such great things for the Lord!  Wow, blessed – husband in China, teaching and training, kids here ministering for the Lord and me fulfilling the call of the Kingdom – I am blessed, what can I say!!!  Not without some tests along the way.  The night before the guys were leaving, my hubby goes out to shuffle vehicles so that he has the SUV ready out in the drive to zoom off to the airport at 4:45am the next morning.  Dead car!!  Not a good thing as we are not mechanics.  After placing the battery charger on the appropriate prongs, bingo, the vehicle starts the next morning.  Come to find out that someone had not closed the back hatch all the way, which promptly ran the battery down!   Not to my surprise, a few days before my hubby was to leave, our water pressure in the house becomes chronic, as in ‘none’!  He leaves it in my hands to deal with, thanks….. I was convinced that it was the water softener but was promptly told no by all advisers, it has to be a leak somewhere in the yard.  Called a plumber or two but was not convinced that one was needed especially seeing that just coming out to take a look would cost over $100.00, that I could really spend somewhere else.  I then called the city of RR and they send the water department out within 30 minutes and had the problem fixed in 3 minutes!!!  Yes, it was the water softener which still lays dead in the garage but thanks to a bypass switch that the kind gentleman from the water department told me about, we can now shower and rinse the shampoo out of our hair  – yeah, I love it when I am right 🙂

You are second…..

This is really worth watching – our quarter back here at UT.

I am second.

“What is it?”

19 Oct

I love how God links twheat2hings together from the beginning of time. Lamentations 3:22-26  It speaks about His mercies being new every morning and and how He provides it daily for us.  Going back to the Israelites wandering in the wilderness and the Lord providing Manna every morning, daily. They could not gather up more than they needed or keep any for the next day as it would sour, rot.  God promised new Manna each day and gave them just what they needed to survive. Manna means, ‘what is it’?   We need to know, ‘what is it?’  that i need each day from the word of God to walk through today.  I need fresh bread daily to sustain me and fill me.  I cannot live on bread that i received yesterday, it has to be fresh each morning.  “Give us this day our daily bread?”  When i was little living in South Africa, I remember my brother-in-law, Rob, coming home each day with “The Daily News” paper and a fresh hot loaf of bread.  You see, the bread over there did not have any preservatives in it, it went stale each day so we made sure that there was fresh bread baked and bought each day.  We did not enjoy the stale, day old bread as much as the warm, fresh fulfilling slices of bread each morning.  We need fresh Manna each day in our lives, to deal with what we have to face today, new revelation, encouragement and grace.  Make it a habit to spend time in the presence of the Lord daily as He shares what you need.  He is THE bread of life, taste and see that The Lord is good!!
